CATBALOGAN CITY, March 10 (PNA) -- The city
government here has formed a team to assist in the community-based
rehabilitation of drug dependents.
Named Community-based Rehabilitation Program and
Therapeutic Community Team (TCT), the group is composed of members of
multi-sectoral councils for Gender and Development (GAD) and the City Anti-Drug
Abuse Council (CADAC).
The TCT has 16 members, who completed a 4-day
training last January conducted by the Samar police provincial office.
Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan said the team will assist
drug dependents in their gradual reformation focusing on behavior management,
emotional, physiological, intellectual and spiritual recovery.
“The community-based rehabilitation program will
use the foundation of therapeutic community in transforming drug surrenderers
into productive members of society,” Uy-Tan said.
Catbalogan City, the provincial capital of Samar,
has 417 surrenderers when the national government waged the war against illegar
