Leyte solon opens congressional office in Jaro

JARO, Leyte, Feb. 3 (PNA) -- A neophyte solon has opened his congressional office in this town to fulfill his campaign promise.

Leyte 2nd District Rep. Henry Ong said Friday the opening of his district office near the town hall aims to bring services closer to the poor people.

Sub-district offices will also open in Dulag and Burauen towns. Jaro town was picked as the site of his district office due to its proximity to Carigara town, the center of Leyte’s second legislative district.

The office opening was attended by mayors from the 14 towns of the district and village officials of Jaro town.

“Through this office, we will make the national government more responsive to the needs of ordinary people,” Ong said.

Ong is a member of the House of Representatives' committees on banks and financial intermediaries, cooperatives development, dangerous drugs, economic affairs, energy, information and communications technology, national defense and security, peace, reconciliation and unity, trade and industry, transportation, Visayas development, and youth and sports development.

Leyte’s 2nd congressional district covers the towns of Barugo, Burauen, Capoocan, Carigara, Dagami, Dulag, Jaro, Julita, La Paz, MacArthur, Mayorga, Pastrana, Tabontabon, and Tunga. These towns have a combined population of 406,359. (PNA)
