TACLOBAN
CITY, Dec. 7 (PNA) -- About 500 workers in Eastern Visayas have been
regularized after the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) launched
a campaign to end illegal contractualization or “endo.”
DOLE regional information officer Virgilion Doroja Jr. said the
region is on track in addressing “endo” in the region since the
government stepped up efforts last September.
“We continue with our consultations. We want to hear also the
voice of the employers and contractors on this issue,” Doroja said.
The discussion focused on the opinions and views of the employers
regarding the issue, where DOLE regional director Elias Cayanong and
labor laws officers responded to their concerns.
As of November 2016, there are about 500 workers who have been
regularized in the region. Some 200 employers have already committed to
regularize their workers.
The labor department aims to regularize 50 percent of workers
suffering illegal labor contractualization by the end of 2016 and
completely eliminate the practice next year. (PNA)
