Samar’s capital earns recognition for ‘Brigada Eskwela’ support

CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar, Nov. 23 (PNA) -– This city received on Wednesday six recognitions from the Department of Education (DepEd) regional office for the implementation of Brigada Eskwela this year.

The city government received an award as most outstanding education stakeholder for Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan.

Recognized as Brigada Eskwela best implementing schools for this academic year are Silanga Elementary School, Catbalogan 1 Central School, SPED (Special Education) Center, Silanga National High School, and Samar National School.

Jose P. Casiño, Sr. Memorial School principal Jojit M. Casiño was awarded as 3rd place winner for best implementing elementary school, exceptional school category.

The recognition received by the city proves that the local government is supportive to quality education as a tool for development, according to Uy-Tan.

“Brigada Eskwela is one of the programs of DepEd but the success of its implementation lies in the collaborative effort of school heads, private partners, local government units, and the community members, including parents and learner,” she added.

Brigada Eskwela is DepEd’s nationwide program implemented every May of the year, enjoining stakeholders in preparing school campuses for classes opening.

The annual campaign is a version of modern heroism, where all sectors pitch in to make sure that schools are clean, safe, disaster-prepared and conducive to learning when students troop back to school on June. (PNA)
