DILG to orient partners on major programs

TACLOBAN CITY, Oct. 6 (PNA) –- The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will hold a “Governance Stakeholders and DILG Productive Interfacing” on Friday in the city.

According to Myles Joseph Colasito, regional information officer of the agency, the interfacing will be participated in by the different stakeholders including agency partners, civil society and some media practitioners.

The activity is organized by Regional Director Marivel Sacendoncillo to help improve the DILG’s outcomes through strong public support and participation.

“As DILG looks forward to the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Republic Act 7160 or commonly known as the Local Government Code of 1991 on October 10, the agency desires to be more transparent, participatory, accountable and responsive local governance,” Colasito said.

There will be orientation on the performance challenge fund; seal of good local governance; Mamamayang ayaw sa anomalya, Mamamayang ayaw sa illegal na droga; assistance to disadvantaged municipalities disaster risk reduction and management; among others.

The progress of the Recovery Assistance for Yolanda programs (RAY) will also be discussed.

RAY was designed after super tyhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan) to ensure effective implementation of post-disaster infrastructure in line with international principles of disaster resilience and recovery.

Others to be discussed are the successful water supply projects throughout the region and promotion of business friendliness and dynamics of national and local government relations. (PNA)
