Solon secures development projects for central Leyte

DULAG, Leyte, Sept. 14 (PNA) -- A lawmaker in this province has been coordinating with national government agencies in the bid to secure projects for Leyte’s second legislative district.

“I am making visits to check available projects for my district, what help I can extend and what project I may get from their offices,” said Leyte 2nd district Rep. Henry Ong.

Ong recently visited the offices of the Commission on Higher Education, Department of Health, Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Labor and Employment, and Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Through these meetings, he was able to secure projects and programs intended for the people in the second district.

Ong recently distributed checks for farmers from the labor department. Ong also secured more than 100 slots for TESDA scholarship for skills enhancement programs and an additional PHP6 million worth of scholarships in 2017.

Ong also secured livelihood and infrastructure projects from the offices of Senators Joseph Victor Ejercito, Ralph Recto, Sonny Angara, Grace Poe, Panfilo Lacson, Loren Legarda, and Gregorio Honasan.

He added that he also plays sports games with other members of the House of Representatives to achieve better and closer relationships with them.

Ong also opened a district office in Jaro, leyte, considered as the district’s center. It will be manned by volunteers with the absence of budget.

In the national expenditure program, he was able to secure a sizable budget for the people of the second district of Leyte compared to other areas in the region. (PNA)
