TACLOBAN
CITY, Aug. 20 (PNA) – The local government of Carigara town in Leyte province
will focus on infrastructure and projects that would spur economic growth, its
mayor has said.
Officials of
the local government, selected employees and representatives of national
government agencies recently gathered in Cebu City to formulate Carigara's
Executive-Legislative Agenda (ELA) for 2017.
Carigara
Mayor Eduardo Ong disclosed that he will seek more investment to provide his
constituents more jobs.
Ong said
they will also offer a special program that would include food for work and
counseling classes for town residents who have yielded to authorities in the
government's anti-narcotics campaign.
His other
target priorities include improved health service; program for basic services;
housing programs for families living along the coastal areas and permanent
danger zones; business industry promotion and marketing for more economic
activity; and effective disaster preparedness and management, he said.
The mayor
noted the importance of the ELA, saying it will guide and enable the executive
and legislative branches to agree on priority problems and focus on
interventions.
“This
activity also promotes the judicious use of the budget and resources of the
local government,” Ong added.
Carigara has
an internal revenue allotment of PHP102 million and local revenues of PHP18
million.
The
executive-legislative agenda embodies how local officials and other
stakeholders translate their development roadmap into concrete programs that
would boost the community's economy. (PNA)
