DPWH Eastern Visayas ranks 2nd nationwide in citizen’s feedback management

PALO, Leyte, Aug. 9 (PNA) - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional office here ranked 2nd place out of 17 regional offices nationwide, in resolving requests for action (RFAs) for period covering January – June 2016.

Said RFAs come in various forms like requests, complaints, inquiries or feedbacks coming from external stakeholders, non-government organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs) and general public.

The ranking was conducted by the Stakeholders Affairs Division, Stakeholders Relations Service of DPWH central office for the first semester of 2016. Within the semester, the Eastern Visayas regional office received 15 feedbacks; of which, 14 or 93 percent were resolved and only one or seven percent remaining feedback is undergoing resolution as of June 30.

The feedback that is undergoing resolution is the school building project of Concord Elementary School, Hinabangan Samar. The regional office has undertaken its initial action by referring it to Samar 2nd district engineering office for immediate appropriate action within set timeline.

“The objective of this semestral monitoring is to manage the social marketing and social mobilization program of the Department that will strengthen relationship with external stakeholders, specifically,
NGOs, CSOs, and the general public, thus encourage them to take an active part in governance,
thereby improve the image or perception of the department,” said DPWH Regional Director Edgar Tabacon.

This move is pursuant to the pertinent provision of Republic Act No. 6713 or the “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees” and Republic Act No. 9485 or the “Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007.” (PNA)
