TACLOBAN CITY, June 14 (PNA) -- Actress-turned-politician Cristina
Gonzales-Romualdez will prioritize economic growth and jobs creation during her
first 100 days as mayor of this city.
Her economic plan is centered on raising the living standards of city
residents in the bid to sustain the recovery of the city after the 2013 super
typhoon.
“We must have something to show for our money, more jobs, better
educated people, and a health care system that works,” Romualdez said.
The mayor-elect is also committed to strengthening security and tourism.
Romualdez is also open to putting up a 911 response center in the city,
which will help fight criminality and provide a more efficient emergency
response especially during emergencies.
“We need to work intensively regarding traffic. We will renew the
traffic light system in the city. Fix the sidewalks and install street-lights
in different areas and put up surveillance cameras on the streets to deter
crimes,” she added.
Romualdez, an incumbent city councilor and wife of outgoing mayor, said
that safer communities will attract more tourists that will bring more
investment opportunities.
“If a city is not safe, it does not serve public interest, it does not
offer opportunities and attractive public places and buildings,” she said.
