13-hour power shutdown to hit entire Samar Island, some parts of Leyte

TACLOBAN CITY, June 16 (PNA)-A day-long power interruption will hit parts of Leyte and entire Samar Island on Saturday due to maintenance activities.

In Leyte, affected areas are Tacloban City, Palo, and Babatngon under the service area of the Leyte II Electric Cooperative.

The three Samar provinces will also suffer power outage. These areas are being served by lone power utilities operating in each of three areas

The power outage is scheduled on Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said in a statement that the cause of brownout is the transfer of wires from emergency restoration system structures to permanent towers along the 138 kV (kilovolts) Ormoc-Babatngon line 138 kV Babatngon-Paranas line. (PNA)
