CITY, May 13 (PNA) -– A lawyer and senior member of the city council here has
welcomed new and young members to the legislative branch.
Councilor
Jerry S. Uy, who will serve his third and last term as member of city council,
said the presence of young councilors will make up a good composition in the
legislative body.
Uy made this
remark after four young members of the council were re-elected - Victor
Emmanuel Domingo, Edward Frederick Chua, Raissa Villasin and Jose Mario
Bagulaya. The council will also welcome new young members - Rachel Pineda and
Aimee Grafil.
“We expect
them to contribute a lot in the post-Yolanda rehabilitation stage,” Uy said.
Other
members of the council are considered veteran in their fields. Senior members
who were re-elected are Edwin Chua and Evangeline Esperas. First termer, Elvira
Casal, a physician, will be joining the body.
“I hope for
a better relationship despite age and party. After all, it will all boil down
to better service to the people of Tacloban,” Uy said
Meanwhile,
as chairman of the Liberal party in Tacloban, Uy dismissed talks about “Plan
B”, with regards to vice presidential front runner Leni Robredo.
“In fact,
our presidential candidate Mar Roxas already concede and even President Aquino
already assured of a smooth transition from his administration to Duterte’s
administration,” Uy said.
“Even
Robredo, if ever she wins, has already promised that she will work with the new
president,” he added.
Uy also
clarified that Eastern Visayas is not all for Sen. Ferdinand Marcos in the vice
presidential race because Robredo got higher votes in Northern Samar, Eastern
Samar, Samar and some parts of Leyte province. (PNA)
