Samar capital mayor succeeds in re-election bid

CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar, May 13 (PNA) -- Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan was victorious in her re-election bid against Samar Board Member Arthur Vaughn Zosa.

The lady mayor attributed her victory to her supporters who disregarded the propaganda thrown against her during the campaign season.

Uy-Tan assured residents that her fresh mandate will not be wasted and promised to do more for the city’s development.

She also lauded the act of her opponent to concede and accept the defeat by texting congratulatory message.

“Election is now over and let us now focus on making Catbalogan more progressive for our beloved constituents, and most importantly for the next generation. I reaffirm my commitment to serve every resident and not to let them down,” said Mayor Uy-Tan.

Uy-Tan vowed to fulfill her promises during the campaign period, which include intensified delivery of basic social services; prioritization of tourism program, better education, and improved local economy.

One major project that her administration is pushing is the development of the Catbalogan Sky City Mega Project that will serve as their new township.

The Sky City is 482-hectare mega project located in the upland area of Catbalogan that is designed to decongest the city from traffic problem, will serve as location for new offices, and investment hubs.

It is also design to address effect of climate change such as sea water rise that the city is prone. The Sky City project is located 120 meters above sea level.

The city government is also conducting intense promotion for Catbalogan to become the investment hub in the entire Samar province, being the provincial capital. (PNA)
