DSWD releases livelihood funds to women’s groups

ORMOC CITY, Leyte, March 10 (PNA) -– The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Tuesday released PHP72,000 to two women’s organizations for the implementation of the Sustainable Livelihood Program.

Cabingtan Livelihood Women’s Association got PHP32,000 while Donghol Women’s Association received PHP40,000.

The two groups will roll the money and pay it back to DSWD after two years without interest. Cabingtan Livelihood Women’s Association plans to lend PHP8,000 each to its members with an interest of 4.5 percent payable within two months. Its 40 members are engaged in vegetable production.

On the other hand, Donghol Women’s Association will lend PHP5,000 to its members with 2 percent interest and payable within three months.

Its 16 members are engaged in food production and vending, and rice trading. The association plans to utilize the rest of the funds to start a convenience store. (PNA)
