ORMOC CITY,
Leyte, Feb. 11 (PNA) -– The first Bayad Center in this city opened its doors in
Tongonan village on Wednesday during the 6th anniversary and general assembly
of franchisee Allied Tongonan Multipurpose Cooperative, which is one of the few
village-assisted coops.
Bayad Center
is an over-the-counter bills payment facility for electricity, telephone,
mobile phone as well as contributions for Social Security System (SSS),
Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) and Pag-Ibig fund.
It also
accepts online processing of clearances from the National Bureau of
Investigation and National Statistics Office certificates.
Residents of
Tongonan and nearby villages welcome the Bayad Center in their community as
they no longer need to go to the city center, 19.3 kilometers away to pay their
bills.
Village
Chief Isagani Bañez says the development boosts his goal to make his
constituents 100 percent covered by PhilHealth and SSS.
The mountain
village of Tongonan is considered the richest in Ormoc, earning an actual
income of more than PHP44 million in 2014 for being the site of the
700-megawatt capacity Leyte Geothermal Production Field operated by Energy
Development Corp. (PNA)
