Vice mayor assures Tacloban City is on good hands even if the mayor is on leave

TACLOBAN CITY, Dec. 30 (PNA) - City Vice Mayor Jerry T. Yaokasin has assured residents here that this city is in good hands under his watch during this holiday season.
Yaokasin sits in acting capacity after the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) ordered him to assume office in the absence of Mayor Alfred Romualdez, who is on travel in the United States from Dec. 21, 2015 to Jan. 1, 2016.
The order is pursuant to Section 46 of the Local Government Code of 1991.
As acting mayor, Yaokasin met with key officials of the vital departments in preparations for the holidays. These include head of traffic enforcers, terminal supervisors, market superintendents, city police director, and city general services head.
These local government personnel play an important role on traffic management, influx of travellers and buyers, peace and order, and garbage collection.
“What is important is that we will be able to perform the basic and important functions of the city government,” Yaokasin said.
He will also meet with city health official to check on the campaign against the use of fire crackers.

Early Monday morning, Yaokasin issued an order addressed to all the department office heads, informing them of his acting capacity, and for the status quo of all the memoranda issued by the city mayor prior to his leave of office. (PNA)
