TACLOBAN CITY, Dec. 30 (PNA) -
Thousands of senior citizens in Leyte and Samar provinces have received free
reading glasses as Christmas gifts from the An Waray Partylist.
The initiative, dubbed as Project
Linaw: Lamrag han Kapaskuhan (project for a brighter Christmas), has already
provided free reading glasses to 3,000 beneficiaries from the northern
villages, Sagkahan district and San Jose district in this city.
In the nearby Palo town, at least
3,000 were also given free reading glasses from the villages of Baras, San
Joaquin, and Guindapunan.
In Ormoc City, the project has
benefited 2,500 people from the villages of Nadongholan, Linao, and Bagong
Buhay.
The project started in December 20
and concluded on Wednesday. The first batch of recipients is 900 senior
citizens in Calubian, Leyte.
The Christmas gift also reached
the homes of thousands elderly in Jinamoc and San Antonio villages in Basey,
Samar.
“The project seeks to make
Christmas of recipients brighter through a clearer vision with the help of
reading glasses,” said An Waray Partylist Rep. Victoria Noel. (PNA)
