ORMOC CITY, Leyte, Jan. 7 (PNA) –
In its desire to make the City Hospital operational in June 2016, the city
government here pushed for the restoration of the facility’s building to its
pre-Yolanda state.
Construction of the medical center
was 97.77 percent complete when it was severely damaged by the super typhoon on
November 2013.
Mayor Edward Codilla ordered the
release of PHP19.44 million on the last quarter of 2015 to rehabilitate the
hospital building and another PHP40 million this year to complete the
structure.
The 2016 Annual Investment Plan
(AIP) allots PHP180 million to make the facility fully operational.
To be taken from the 20 percent
development fund, the PHP180 million is distributed to capital outlay, PHP105
million; maintenance and other operating expenses, PHP30 million; and personal
services, PHP45 million. The city government will fill up 63 regular positions
in the hospital.
The PHP105 million capital outlay
will be utilized to procure needed facilities namely information technology
equipment and software, PHP15 million; office equipment, PHP11 million;
vehicles, PHP12 million; furniture and fixtures, PHP12 million; machineries,
PHP20 million; and other equipment, PHP35 million.
City planning and development
officer Raoul Cam explained that the realization of projects outlined in the
AIP will depend on the availability of funds. If the fund allocation is
insufficient, a supplemental budget will be passed but will also depend on fund
availability. (PNA)
