ORMOC CITY, Jan. 17 (PNA) -- The
Department of Public Works and Highways 4th Leyte Engineering District
(DPWH-4th LED) closed 2015 with an accomplishment rate of 96.12 percent for its
61 active projects for the year.
Only two projects, which are a
footbridge in Naungan village and a flood control project in neighboring
Albuera town were not completed last year, according to District Engineer Lino
Francisco Gonzales.
The accomplishment rate was
supposed to be 98 percent if not for the arrival of funds for the Tabgas River
flood control project in Albuera on the first week of November 2015. The
footbridge in Naungan, on the other hand, is targeted for completion before
March 15, 2016.
Gonzales said that for 2016, more
than PHP1 billion worth of projects will be implemented in Leyte’s 4th
district. Of this amount, PHP525 million will be implemented by 4th Led and the
rest by the regional office.
Implementation began in the first
week of January except for a PHP2 million multi-purpose building at Albuera
port, which is still subject to bidding.
Meanwhile, 4th Led has 71 active
school building projects worth PHP407 million, 38 of which have been completed
and 32 ongoing. These projects are set to be completed by the opening of school
year 2016-17 except for a four-storey building at New Ormoc National High
School which has yet to begin construction. (PNA)
