ORMOC CITY, Leyte, Nov. 30 (PNA)
-- Water supply in Ipil village is expected to improve with the development of
a reservoir within the community.
Gervacio Germano, waterworks
superintendent, said that they are just waiting for electric connection to
operate the production well in the site, some four kilometres away from the
city center.
The project will also improve
water supply in neighboring Can-untog village. But before this could happen,
the pipelines along the highway going to that village will have to be replaced,
which will be done upon the delivery of materials in January next year.
Can-untog is a priority with the
settlement of 500 families in bunkhouses there.
Meanwhile, Mayor Edward C. Codilla
approved the construction of two spring boxes and a concrete collecting tank in
Mabini village, 14 kilometers south of downtown.
The project, worth Php5 million,
will address the dwindling water supply there as well as in adjacent areas.
Ormoc Waterworks and Sewerage System
serves 19,000 registered consumers through its five pumping stations, the
largest being the Ahag Filtration Gallery in Donghol village, 4.7 kilometers
northeast from downtown.
It supplies the city proper and
suburbs up to Naungan village on the west, Macabug village on the south and the
lower part of Cogon village.
The Simangan-Dolores cluster has
three wells supplying upper Cogon going northward from Simangan to Milagro and
Concepcion to Cabulihan villages.
The San Isidro cluster on the west
covers the villages of Doña Feliza Mejia, San Isidro, Bagong Buhay up to
Libertad and Airport.
Further westward, the households
are served by the Curva cluster which covers the villages of San Vicente,
Mas-in, San Juan, Lilo-an and a part of Libertad.
The Valencia cluster serves the
northwest part including Valencia, San Jose, Kadaohan, Matica-a Sabang and a
portion of Guintigui-an villages .
The reservoir being developed in
Ipil will serve Can-untog and San Antonio, thereby easing the supply demand
from the Ahag Filtration Gallery. (PNA)
