98 aspiring gov't workers avail computerized eligibility test

PALO, Leyte, Oct. 11-- The Civil Service Commission Eastern Visayas regional office here said the computerized examination (Comex) in the region has been up and running after it encountered glitches middle of last year.

Since the modern testing center resumed its operations last June, 98 examiners aspiring for jobs in the government, have already used the facility.

“There are many applicants, but it is a first come, first serve online registration and we can only accommodate 14 people per scheduled examination,” CSC Regional Director Victoria Esber said in an interview Wednesday.

Account registration is done online through the Comex website www.comex.csc.gov.ph, where the examinee encodes his or her personal information.

From 20 computers available, the CSC reduced the number to 14 due to unstable internet connection in the region after super typhoon "Yolanda" struck in 2013.

Replacing, computer-assisted test, Comex is designed to unite all previous stand-alone examination processes into a single, automated examination system. The general ability test for professional level lasts for three hours while the exam for sub-professional is two hours and 30 minutes.

The examination pay is PHP600, or just PHP100 higher than the paper and pencil test.

Despite availability of Comex, the CSC said most examinees take the paper and pencil test scheduled twice a year. In the region, number of examinees ranges from 7,000 to 14,000 every year.

The CSC has launched Comex in the region in 2014. It was temporarily stopped July 2016 as internet provider from their central office failed to provide stable web connection to the regional centers. (SQM/with reports from Ma. Myrelle Montallana, OJT/PNA)
