TACLOBAN CITY, Dec. 14 -- Leyte’s schools division topped this year’s education awards given by the Department of Education’s (DepEd) regional office in Eastern Visayas.
DepEd Leyte chief Ronelo Al Firmo received the highest award among the 13 divisions in the region after he bagged the “Most Outstanding Schools Division Superintendent” in the division banner project implementation.
“Thanks a lot, to my DepEd Leyte Division family, most especially to my ‘wind beneath my wings’, the two assistant schools’ division superintendent, the school governance operations division, the curriculum implementation division,” Firmo said after receiving the award during the “Region 8 is Great: A Golden Voyage” recognition ceremony at the Summit Hotel here Thursday night.
He also thanked DepEd Regional Director Ramir Uytico and Assistant Regional Director Fiel Almendra for the recognition.
The DepEd regional office lauded Firmo for his “commendable contributions, achievements, and services in sustaining the summit of excellence through his unwavering zeal of attaining the goals of Project LEAD (Lead, Empower, and Achieve through Data-Driven Decision, thereby empowering school leaders in his division.”
In November 2016, Uytico launched the Project LEAD pursuant to Republic Act No. 9155 or the “Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001”.
The project aims to encourage the 13 divisions in the region to craft their own banner project, which highlights the role of the school leaders in terms of the delivery of basic education policies, principles, and services that answer the needs of their community. (ROR/PNA)
