CITY, Nov. 7 -- The bodies of two drowning
victims were found Monday afternoon by rescuers in Abuyog, Leyte.
The
victims were identified as Rosayda Ng, 20, and Michael Realino, 39, both
residents of Victory village of Abuyog town, 86 km. south of this city.
“Initial
investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, (the) victims and a friend
were having a drinking spree and decided to go swimming, but were washed away
by the strong current and drowned,” Eastern Visayas Police spokesperson, Chief
Insp. Ma. Bella Rentuaya, said Tuesday morning.
The local
police recorded the incident at 1:20 p.m. on Monday at the seawater of Sto.
Niño village.
The
recovered bodies were brought to the Abuyog municipal morgue for post-mortem
examination.
Meanwhile,
fishermen found a floating body off the coast of Cabunga-an village in Sto.
Niño, Samar on Sunday.
“The body
is still unidentified and is already in an advanced stage of decomposition. It
was temporarily buried at the public cemetery,” Rentuaya told reporters. (SQM/PNA)
