Construction of 17 health facilities in Ormoc City on track - exec

ORMOC CITY, March 15 (PNA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways Leyte 4th district engineering office has attained an accomplishment rate of 53.37 percent in the construction of health facilities in this city.

District Engineer Lino Francisco C. Gonzales said they are ahead by 10 percent of the target in the implementation of the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HPEP).

It involves the construction of two-storey buildings for 17 rural health units in Ormoc City at a total cost of PHP42.79 million.

Four buildings will be completed by end March, according to him, and the rest will be completed before the end of the year.

“These projects seek to upgrade village health stations and rural health units and enable these facilities to provide hospital-grade services,” Gonzales said.

The DPWH Leyte 4th district is just one of the 238 DPWH field offices in the country. It covers Ormoc City, Albuera, Isabel, Kananga, Matag-ob, Merida, and Palompon in the northwest part of Leyte Island. (PNA)
