Top cop asks men to abide by driving rules

TACLOBAN CITY, Feb. 10 (PNA) –- The police regional office here has ordered all policemen to get driver’s license and register their vehicles.

Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Elmer C. Beltejar issued the directive on Thursday after it was found in an inspection that many vehicles parked at the regional headquarters compound are not registered.

The police highway patrol group inspected all motorcycles and cars parked inside the camp this week.

Sr. Insp. Andrew Ponay, head of the regional highway patrol group and Beltejar led the random inspection of motor vehicles as part of the nationwide internal cleansing campaign of the Philippine National Police.

During the inspection, the officials asked vehicle owners to present the official receipts from the Land Transportation Office and the certificates of registration.

The inspectorate team found that several motor vehicles were delinquent in registration, many policemen have been driving without driver’s license and ownership of some vehicles are not yet transferred to the present owner.

Beltejar told policemen to abide the law since they are law enforcers.

“The campaign will continue until such time that the camp will be free from questionable motor vehicles,” the police regional chief said.

“Violators of this directive will be subject to investigation and confiscation of their respective vehicles,” Beltejar added.

The conduct of inspection is in compliance with the order of the director for operations from the national headquarters of the Philippine National Police. (PNA)
