Mayor Richard Gomez to lobby Ormoc’s big project before RDC

ORMOC CITY, Feb. 21 (PNA) -– Actor-turned-politician Mayor Richard Gomez will be lobbying several high-ticket projects for this city before the Regional Development Council (RDC) as he congratulated the newly-appointed council chairperson, Tacloban Mayor Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez.

Gomez, one the nominees to head the council, said he has several projects that need RDC endorsement and support to help improve this city.

Among these projects are access roads, bridges, reclamation sites, and housing for the poor. He will also ask for RDC support to invite more investors in the city’s sugar farms.

Meanwhile, Gomez extended his congratulation to Romualdez for the latter’s appointment as the new head of the region’s highest policy-making body.

Gomez said he respects the decision of President Rodrigo Duterte to appoint Romualdez.

“She’s the choice of the President and who am I to oppose it? We have to respect that. What we can do now as mayors and leaders is to support the new RDC chair on her plans for the region,” he added.

Romualdez and Gomez are both newly-elected city mayors in the region.

Gomez earned his first mandate as city mayor after several attempts to enter politics while Romualdez followed the footstep of her husband, former Tacloban City Mayor Alfred, who finished his third term last year.

The movie actor moved to Ormoc after marrying former model Lucy Torres, the incumbent representative of Leyte’s 4th legislative district. (PNA)
