TACLOBAN CITY, Jan. 10 (PNA) – A locally-initiated
livelihood program that has been running for nine years will go mobile this
year, the city government announced on Tuesday.
Cristina’s Learn and Earn Program (CLEP), a comprehensive
livelihood and entrepreneural program named after Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez,
will launch mobile classes to reach out to more villages.
The classes will serve as stations for trainors and
enrollees of the program course.
"This is our intervention wherein enrollees
don't have to come to our office anymore. They can immediately proceed to these
mobile classes situated in their village for enrolment, inquiries and other
matters,” said Maeflor N. Espiño, CLEP coordinator.
For the past nine years, the program has already
helped 9,414 jobless residents who were equipped with skills in different
courses offered such as food processing, dress making, bartending, reflexology
and cosmetology.
Unlike in the previous years, community-based
trainings can now be done in different areas through mobile classes.
"We will be putting up mobile classes mostly
in Tacloban north resettlement areas, which will be our focus this year, since
the families living there lack livelihood opportunities after being transferred
to their new homes," Espiño added.
The program will deploy trainors accredited by
Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
For this year, CLEP will still follow their
previous courses and training systems and will continue to create interventions
for more efficient programs. (PNA)
