DPWH Leyte office gets PHP1.7-B budget for 2017

CARIGARA, Leyte, Jan. 5 (PNA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 2nd Leyte district engineering office will get a budget of PHP1.7 billion for the implementation of regular infrastructure projects this year.

District engineer Carlos Veloso said more than PHP600 million of the budget will be implemented by the district while the PHP1 billion will be carried out by the regional office.

Among the major projects of the district are the reconstruction of Binahaan Bridge in Pastrana, Leyte; widening of bridges, flood control structure and road reblocking of some portions of Palo-Carigara-Ormoc Road.

Also included is the full completion of Burauen-Albuera road that connects northern and western part of Leyte Island.

"We will also focus on the maintenance of all roads in the district as and paint all guard rails. We want to clean the roads and remove overgrowing trees along roadsides,” Veloso said. (PNA)
