CITY, Dec. 14 (PNA) -– A couple suspected of dealing in illegal drugs
was arrested by the city police here in a buy bust operation Tuesday
night.
Recovered from the duo are small packs of shabu
(methamphetamine hydrochloride) with a total street value of PHP500,000,
said city police chief Sr. Supt. Rolando Bade.
Teddy Magpili,
49, and live-in partner Ronelda Calamaya, 52, were arrested at their
house in San Jose district around 8:30 p.m. after selling a sachet of
shabu to a police who acted as poseur buyer.
Calamaya, a widow, is
a Bureau of Jail Management personnel assigned in Basey, Samar. She is
listed as a high value target being a government employee involved in
illegal drugs trade.
The police operatives had worked for months to conduct surveillance on the illegal drug trade operation of the couple.
Recovered
from the suspects were 29 sachets of suspected shabu with a total
market value of PHP500,000, PHP900 cash, and a mobile phone.
The
couple is now detained at the city police detention cell, while
chargers for violations of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are
now being prepared by the local police for immediate filing in court.
