TACLOBAN CITY, Dec. 2 (PNA)
-– The Philippine National Police (PNP) renewed its commitment to
protect children’s rights during the culmination of 24th Children’s
Month celebration on Friday.
“Supporting children for a great cause is a fulfilment not only
of the mere fact that they were able to give joy to the people, they
were given a good lesson, ensuring their role for the future generation”
said PNP Eastern Visayas Regional Director Chief Supt. Elmer C.
Beltejar.
One of the highlights of the celebration in the region is the
search for “Ang Batang Probinsyano.” At least 11 boys representing the
city and provincial police offices joined the competition. The kids
showed their talent and faced the question and answer portion.
The search was named after the 2015 Filipino action drama
television series based on the 1997 Fernando Poe, Jr. film of the same
title.
Wielvynn John R. Brato, 7, from Samar province, won the completion. He got the award during the culmination program.
Carlos Miguel Advincula from the Leyte police provincial office
snatched the 2nd place and Ron Cezar from Biliran province finished as
the 3rd placer.
The activity is in partnership with the Department of Social
Welfare and Development, Abby’s Shop, Save the Children, McDonalds,
Robinsons Place Tacloban, Unilab, and ABS-CBN Tacloban.
This year's celebration carries the theme “Isulong: Kalidad na
Edukasyon Para sa Lahat ng Bata!” The theme highlights children’s rights
to education and encourage stakeholders to advocate inclusive and
equitable life-long learning opportunities for all children. (PNA)
