CITY, Nov. 8 (PNA) -- About 2,000 candles will be lighted on Tuesday night to
remember those who perished when supertyphoon Yolanda pummeled central
Philippines three years ago.
Local media
outlets will lead in the candle lighting ceremony. Some groups held a
simulation at the 'Yolanda' mini-memorial in the city’s Fatima village Monday
night.
"We
established a mini memorial to remember the Yolanda casualties whose bodies
were not recovered after the typhoon struck," said Jeff Manibay,
coordinator of One Tacloban.
According to
Manibay, the event is also a call for the people to ponder on the effects of
climate change.
Participants
of the event, who were mostly residents of the village, lighted candles formed
into words that reads "Climate Justice."
On Tuesday,
thousands of candles will be lined up along major roads in this city as part of
the 3rd year anniversary.
