CITY, Oct. 6 (PNA) -- Technical Education and Skills Development Authority
(TESDA) Director General Guiling Mamondiong announced the opening of 10,000
slots for scholarship grants in Eastern Visayas.
To avail of
the scholarship grants, applicants must go to their village officials. Earlier,
TESDA sent letters to village officials in the country to submit names of their
residents that need skills training from the government.
Applicants
may also apply online by accessing the TESDA website if in case local officials
would not include them on the list, according to Mamondiong.
“There is a
possibility that in the submission of nominees, those who did not vote for
their local officials, may not be listed. We also made the application form
available online so that groups can nominate them,” explained Mamondiong during
a consultation here on Wedenesday.
For computer
illiterate and no access to internet, they may also go for walk-in application
in nearest TESDA field offices in their area.
Mamondiong
advices residents to avail of the TESDA scholarship grants before its
expiration on the second quarter of 2017. The remaining slots will be given to
other regions next year.
The TESDA
scholarship grant, previously known as scholarship vouchers, provides training
assistance to out-of-school youth and unskilled individuals in support to the
government thrust for inclusive sustainable growth. (PNA)
