Miss International Queen, the beauty pageant for transgender women from different parts of the world, has been around since 2004.
“The pageant will give me an opportunity to reach out to many people to help raise awareness about the transgender community,” Anderson said.
Anderson (a.k.a. Kim Cordeta-Hudec), 36, is an Oncology nurse in Los Angeles, California. She specializes in critical care nursing, as well as administering chemotherapy and biotherapy to cancer patients.
“As nurse to cancer patients, I help them physically, emotionally and mentally, giving them hope not to give up,” Anderson said.
She is a nursing graduate from a top nursing school in Tacloban – the Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Medical Foundation.
“I am very proud of my Filipino ancestry, it is my roots. Being raised in Tacloban City have influenced me a lot with my values and motivated me to reach my goals in life,” she said.
She loves to dance, ski, spends time with family and travel around the world with her husband Marco.
When she was growing up, she knew she always wanted to be a beauty queen. And she not only won one beauty title, but three titles tucked in her belt, to prove she has what it takes to be a beauty queen.
“I am honored to be able to represent the country where one can enjoy the American dream and live through its creed that all men are created equal. I am very fortunate to have been blessed to marry the man of my heart in a country that celebrates equality,” Anderson told PNA.
I believe that beauty pageants not only showcase beauty and glamour but also gives one an opportunity to become a role model for so many people who suffer low self-esteem and fear of coming-out, Anderson said.
“There are still many who are worried about uncertainties many non-gender conforming individuals face today. I am so blessed to have three amazing titles won Miss USA 2014, Miss Los Angeles Pride 2014 and Queen Universe 2015,” Anderson added.
Winning the titles opened so many doors for her to participate in fund raising events and outreach programs that benefit the LGBT community and the underprivileged youth.
During her term as Queen Universe she had an opportunity to visit her hometown in Tacloban which was ground zero of supertyphoon Yolanda. Her group conducted a food drive, gave toys to children and spent ample time with them.
"It’s a nice feeling being able to cheer them up," said Anderson.
Anderson is pre-occupied with fitness training. “Everything should be perfect. Now that I am an official candidate, I want to enjoy the pageant. I am grateful and excited for this journey,” she said.
Mykel Tenefrancia, a top-notch make-up artist from Tacloban, will fly to Thailand as member of the US team and her make-up artist.
I am blessed I get the support of my family, and friends and encouragement from many people especially my husband who pushes me and motivates me to the best of my ability.
The pageant will officially start on Oct. 30 and will have its coronation night on Nov. 11 in Pattaya, Thailand.
The queen crowned last year was from the Philippines, Trixie Maristela. Will Anderson be the next? (PNA)
