Negosyo Center seen to drive MSME growth in Biliran town

CABUCGAYAN, Biliran, Oct. 18 (PNA) – The recent opening of Negosyo Center here is expected to help expand the operations of micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in this sleepy town.

Through the support of the local government unit, the Model C one-stop shop was set up to cater on business name registration, advisory, information and advocacy of MSMEs in the locality.

Model C Negosyo Center, according to DTI, is a facility ideal for third to fourth class towns with two business counselors plus support staff. Facility includes reception area and three desks.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Biliran provincial office unveiled the second Negosyo Center in the province on Oct. 13.

“The establishment of this Negosyo Center will give additional help to entrepreneurs on how they can sustain their business in a long-term basis,” said Francis Michael P. Tan, DTI Negosyo Center technical staff.

“We need to teach our MSME’s owner on the appropriate way of managing business and its technical know-how so that they can sustain it not just in a short term,” he added.

This will also help in empowering those who are in business and the development of the locality into additional employment.

“This Negosyo Center will be of a great help to us who are in a small business since there will be an institution that will accommodate us in all aspects on the field of business,” said Amy C. Jabien, owner of a small enterprise engaged in cake-making in town.

The DTI also opened similar center in Kawayan and Caibiran towns last week. The Naval Negosyo Center will be upgraded into a Model B from Model C.

Model B is a facility ideal for second-class towns with two to three business counselors plus support staff. Facility includes a reception area, consultation and meeting room, and working area.

Setting up of Negosyo Centers in the country was mandated through Republic Act 10644 or the Go Negosyo Act of 2014, which aims to promote job generation and comprehensive growth in establishments.(PNA)
