Investment holding firm to build housing project in Catbalogan City

CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar, Aug. 31 (PNA) – Investment holding firm Berjaya Philippines Inc. will finance the construction of housing units project in this city, Samar’s provincial capital.

Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan said the construction of housing units will be implemented by the Gawad Kalinga, a non-profit organization that focuses on poverty alleviation by employing to people the integrated and holistic approach to empowerment with values-formation and leadership development.

The housing units will rise in Payao village, tagged by the city government as relocation sites for residents living in coastal areas and danger zones.

The village is also the site for the development expansion projects in the northern part of the city.

The funding for construction of housing units under came after Uy-Tan met Berjaya officials to dicuss investment on bulk water facility and market privatization.

“I am surprised that they immediately approved our proposal even they haven’t yet invested in the city,” Uy-Tan recalled.

The company and Gawad Kalinga still need to finalize the design of houses and the total cost of the project.

Berjaya Philippines, Inc. segments include leasing (online lottery equipment, maintenance and repair services, and telecommunication and integration services), services (hotel operation), holdings and investments, and motor vehicle dealership. (PNA)
