Police eye drugs behind shooting of ex-mayor's son in Leyte

ORMOC CITY, Leyte, Aug. 8 (PNA) –- The police here initially declared illegal drugs as behind the killing of the son of former mayor of Isabel, Leyte.

The ex-wife of Eric Fuentes revealed that the victim had been involved in illegal drugs activities for years until their split up, according to investigator police officer 2 Rodel Superales.

A police report stated that the 45-year-old victim was on board a single motorcycle bound to his home in Feliza Mejia subdivision on Aug. 5 when along national highway near Ormoc District Hospital, 
another single motorcycle appeared at his side and the back rider suddenly fired at him.

The suspects wore helmets and headed towards city center after the shooting.

The victim sustained nine gunshot wounds. Police recovered five empty shells and one slug of caliber .45 at the crime scene.(PNA)
