Ex-cop falls in Tacloban drug buy-bust

TACLOBAN CITY, Aug. 15 (PNA) - A former policeman who is on the police list of high-value targets, was arrested during a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay 35 here Sunday night.

Tacloban city police director, Sr. Supt. Rolando Bade, Jr., identified the suspect as former Police Officer 1 Bernardo Baltar.

Baltar, who went on AWOL last year, tried to sell a sachet of shabu to an undercover police agent.

Police confiscated from him PHP500 in marked money, five plastic sachets containing a substance believed to be shabu, assorted drug pharaphernalia and two mobile phones.

Bade confirmed that Baltar is on the local police's drugs watch list due to his alleged ties with narcotics syndicates in the region.

The former police officer was taken to the Tacloban Police Custodial Facility and is facing charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
