DPWH Leyte office installs rainwater collectors

ORMOC CITY, Leyte, Aug. 16 (PNA) -– The Department of Public Works and Highways Leyte 4th district engineering office (DEO) is currently undertaking the installation of 20 units rainwater collector system (RWCS).

Each unit has a capacity to store 1,200 liters of water installed in several sites within northwest Leyte.

Funded under this year’s General Appropriations Act amounting to PHP3.82 million, the purpose of the RWCS is to conserve water and address the diminishing freshwater supply and climate change adaptation in the area.

The recipients of RWCS are some village halls and a day care center in Albuera town as well as elementary schools in the Matag-ob, Merida and Palompon towns, and Ormoc City.

Last year, the DPWH Leyte 4th DEO installed 12 RCWS in different towns within the district. (PNA)
