Cars, jet skis of ‘narco’ mayor, son now in police custody

ORMOC CITY, Leyte, Aug. 10 (PNA) -– Several cars and jet skis owned by Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa and son, Kerwin were voluntarily surrendered to the police on Tuesday by the family’s trusted persons.

A police report stated that Espinosa instructed Chona B. Milan through mobile phones to hand-over to the police seven various cars, two jet boats and a single motorcycle that were parked at one of their three houses in Benolho village, Albuera town.

Milan, accompanied by local village councilman Jun Pepito, brought to the station the following cars: Toyota Hilux 3.0 D4D, Frontier Navara, Toyota HiAce, Toyota Fortuner, Ford Ranger, another Toyota car, and Suzuki multi cab.

Also turned over were 230 Challenger jet boat, RXP 260RS jet ski (Rotax) and a single motorcycle.
Pepito, a neighbor of Espinosa, took care of these properties tagged by Chief Insp. Jovie Espenido, the local police chief, as “fruit of illegal drugs.”

Milan is a resident of Linao village, this city, and contractor of the unfinished poultry project of the Espinosas located in their village.

Meanwhile, police record stated that driver Cipriano A. Diano, 43, and Ryan F. Labandria, 21, both neighbors of Kerwin, appeared at the station on Monday and surrendered a silver metallic Toyota HiAce Commuter and a weighing scale for illegal drugs allegedly owned by younger Espinosa.
Espenido disclosed that the Highway Patrol Group is currently verifying the records if these are hot cars.

With the gradual surfacing of witnesses against the region’s suspected top drug lord, Espenido is confident that in due time, the illegal activities of the Espinosas will be fully stopped. (PNA)
