CITY, July 15 (PNA) –- The city council here has picked new chairpersons for
the different committees of the legislative body.
Councilor
Edwin Chua will continue as a floor leader with Councilor Eden Pineda as
assistant floor leader.
Chua, a
former vice mayor, also got the chairmanship of the committee on finance and
appropriations, public order, security and safety, and oversight committee on
the disaster risk reduction and management.
Councilor
Edward Fredrick Chua got the committees on education, culture and students
affairs; youth and sports development; transportation, terminal administration;
communications and public information; and Committee on information,
technology, and development.
Pineda, the
president of association of barangay (village) chairmen received the committee
on personnel administration and appointments, barangay affairs, and barangay
dispute and adjudication.
Neophyte
Councilor Elvira Casal handles the committees on health and sanitation, justice
and human rights, trade and industry, and consumer protection.
Councilor
Evangeline Esperas took the leadership of committees on market, slaughterhouse
and abattoir; and labor, employment and overseas workers.
Councilor
Erica Pineda got the chairmanship of the committee on tourism and culture
affairs; agriculture, fisheries and aquatic resources; and bank, franchises and
public itilities.
Councilor
Aimee Grafil has the committee on social services; environmental protection and
management; committee on urban poor, housing, and resettlement.
Councilor
Victor Emmanuel Domingo holds the committee on engineering, infrastructure, and
general services; games, amusement and entertainment; and ethics and blue
ribbon.
Councilor
Jose Mario Bagulaya got the chairmanship of the committee on women and family
relations, and gender and development.
Councilor
Raissa Villasin leads the committee on livelihood and cooperative development,
and people empowerment and participation.
The city
council, presided by Vice Mayor Jerry Yaokasin, had its inaugural session on
