ORMOC CITY,
Leyte, July 17 (PNA) – The husband-and-wife team of Ormoc City Mayor Richard
Gomez and Rep. Lucy Marie Torres-Gomez (4th District-Leyte) broke ground on
Saturday for the opening of a road that will link two upland villages here.
The
PHP128.215-million worth Gaas-Quezon Jr. Road will stretch nine kilometers and
will ease the farmers’ burden in transporting their produce.
The road
opening will be 10-12 meters wide while the road itself will be one meter wider
than the standard five-meter wide farm-to-market road (FMR), District Engineer
Lino Francisco Gonzales said.
The project
is targeted for completion on the first quarter of next year.
Being a mere
road opening, only two kilometers will be concreted: 800 meters each on both
sides of Gaas and Quezon Jr. Road, and critical sections in between.
