MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, July 15 (PNA) – It was a productive first
semester for the Department of Public Works and Highways – Southern Leyte
District Engineering Office (DPWH-SLDEO) with the attainment of 69 percent
accomplishment for 2016 projects.
District Engineer Ma. Margarita C. Junia said the field office surpassed
the 50 percent target set by the central office for the first six months of the
year.
The field office is tasked to carry out PHP1 billion worth of projects.
About P941.46 million were obligated and PHP244.18 million has been disbursed
during the first half of the year.
“Aside from preparing early for the implementation of 2016 projects and
regular inspection of ongoing projects, another factor was the very cooperative
weather during the first half of the year,” Junia said.
As of June 30, the DPWH-SLDEO has already completed 23 out of the 84
regular projects. Completion rate for all of the 61 ongoing projects is within
the timetable.
Finished projects include the rehabilitation of six bridges within the
major thoroughfares. These are the PHP9.2 million Calayugan Bridge, PHP5.1
million Maslog Bridge I, PHP6.1 million Maslog Bridge II, PHP15 million
Pintuyan Bridge, PHP7.9 million San Ricardo Bridge, and PHP9.1 million Timba
Bridge.
Completed roads are the PHP2 million paving of cemetery road in Silago, PHP3
million paving of road leading to Danao Camp Tree Park in Maasin City, PHP2
million road concreting of Esperanza to Pinut-an in San Ricardo, PHP2 million
concreting of Mahalo to Maningawong access road in Anahawan; PHP2 million
municipal access road in Pintuyan, PHP2 million paving of Guadalupe to San
Isidro Road in Macrohon; and PHP2 million concreting of Bancas to Ambacon Road
in Hinunangan.
For dike construction, finished projects are located in Zone 1, Sogod
town (PHP2 million); town center, Liloan (PHP3 million); coastal areas of San
Francisco (PHP2 million); and Barangay San Jose, San Juan town (PHP2 million).
Other finished infrastructure are the PHP1 million improvement of
multi-purpose gymnasium in Padre Burgos town, PHP2 million Magallanes multi-purpose
building in Limasawa, PHP2 million evacuation center in Libagon, PHP1.5 million
covered court in Hinundayan, PHP2 million multi-purpose building in Hinundayan,
and PHP1.7 million school building in Libagon National High School.
“I would like to commend all engineers and field workers for their hard
work in the past six months.
We did everything to speed up projects in order to
improve road accessibility for better mobility of people and products,” Junia
said.
