TACLOBAN
CITY, May 20 (PNA) - First time party-list group, Tingog Sinirangan failed to
secure a seat in the House of Representatives on the May 9 elections but it
vowed to continue in helping Eastern Visayas and carry the voice of its people
in whatever opportunity it can.
“We will
never give up and we will continue to fight for you and with you,” Jude Acidre,
first nominee of Tingog Sinirangan, said.
Tingog has
envisioned to uplift Eastern Visayas, identified as the poorest region in the
country.
Acidre said
the group "hoped for the opportunity to serve our region through the
party-list system and lead our people towards a stronger vision of regional
development."
"But
while we may have lost this election - we gained much more than we expected - a
better understanding of our region and its people, a closer appreciation of the
challenges that beset us and a more determined will to do whatever we can to
bring change, hope and progress to this region we call home,” he said.
Acidre said
the group is "even more so thankful to everyone who voted for us -
especially in the city of Tacloban; to all our leaders and supporters and
everyone who believed in us. We are thankful to our party leadership and
campaign donors."
“Thank you
for your support, prayers and inspiration. Thank you for welcoming us to your
homes and communities. Thank you for allowing us to share our ideas and
aspirations. In everything, we thank the good Lord for the blessings of the
past months,” he said.
Acidre also
expressed his personal thanks to outgoing Leyte 1st district Rep. Ferdinand
Martin Romualdez, who also ran in the senatorial race.
Tingog’s
other nominees are young entrepreneur and sports advocate Daciano David Palami,
lawyer and humanitarian worker Sharilee Angela Gaspay-Mauro.
“We are very
proud of our very hardworking campaign staff, who generously gave their all to
see a vision come close to reality; to our families and friends who stood by us
in all the ups and downs; to our political allies and partners who readily
embraced us; to the civil society groups and faith communities who made us even
more confident about the relevance of our mission; to our friends in the media
- we can never be thankful enough,” Acidre said.
He also
apologized for any offenses he had caused to others, whether said or done
amidst a very heated campaign.
“Tingog will
continue to do its best to serve Eastern Visayas in whatever capacity and
opportunity that we will have,” he said. (PNA)
