An Waray Party-list confident of winning seats

TACLOBAN CITY, May 7 (PNA) – Two days before elections, An Waray party-list expressed confidence in gaining seats again based on a high ranking it garnered on the most preferred party-lists in the latest Pulse Asia survey.

Rep. Victoria Isabel Noel and second nominee, lawyer Raoul Creencia said they were elated with the report as this would surely boost their chances of winning in the May 9 polls.

According to Noel, the survey results were humbling and encouraging. This makes An Waray more inspired to improve their services, she added.

Outgoing Rep. Neil Benedict Montejo said that they were confident that they could win and garner seats in the May 9 polls, backed with their solid performance for the past years.

As this developed, Noel decried foul the political mudslinging hurled against the An waray during the entire campaign period.

The An Waray opponents are claiming that the group has not performed and did nothing to help alleviate the suffering of the survivors of supertyphoon “Yolanda.”

She said that these were all baseless and nothing but black propaganda against the An Waray party-list.

Former Rep. Florencio “Bem” Noel said that they had proofs to support that they assisted the Yolanda survivors.

“There are facts and data on what we have done to help the survivors. Congressman Montejo was here and communicated to us on what were the immediate needs (of the survivors), “Noel said.

“There were testimonies given by those who received assistance from An Waray.  This could be the reason why those who are criticizing us are now silent, “the former solon said.

Noel reiterated that the party list has helped in both emergency and recovery phase after the catastrophe.

Rep. Victoria Noel said that unlike other groups, they never advertised their activities and assistance extended to typhoon victims.

Meantime, Noel lambasted her critics who claimed that she did not have a certificated of proclamation issued by the Commission on Elections.

“Congress, as an institution, will never allow someone who is allegedly fake to occupy a position as member of Congress,” she said.

“If it was true, I have long been ousted from Congress.  I am already at the end of my term.  This is a desperate move by our opponents who are running not based on merits, but on mudslinging,” Noel added. (PNA)
