TACLOBAN
CITY, April 2 (PNA) – The latest Pulse Asia survey showing An Waray Partylist’s
popularity among Filipino voters has elated its officials.
Rep.
Victoria Isabel G. Noel and second nominee, lawyer Raoul Creencia were happy
with the latest Pulse Asia Survey with An Waray ranking fourth as the most
preferred partylist.
The
respondents were made to choose only one group among those who all are running
under the partylist system.
Partylist
system is being implemented to give smaller parties, groups, and organization
the chance to have a representative in congress.
According to
Noel, the survey results were humbling and encouraging. This makes An Waray
more inspired to improve their services.
On his part,
Creencia said that the results of this survey reflected what’s happening on the
ground.
“First,
there are still a lot of voters who are unaware of the party list system.
Second, most of those who are aware of the party-list system appreciate and
support the programs of An Waray,” Creencia claimed.
Both
nominees said that although their main job was to pass laws, An Waray became
double relevant because of its various projects such as scholarships,
livelihood programs and medical assistance not only in Eastern Visayas but in
other parts of the country.
An Waray
partylist has pushed for passage of Republic Act 10644 or the Go Negosyo Act
and Republic Act 10693 or the Microfinance NGOs Act .
Under
education and youth development initiatives, the partylist has financed college
education of about 11,163 students, supported 3,921 technical-vocational
scholar, and produced 2,232 youth program graduates. The group also donated 493
school equipments.
There were
4,226 beneficiaries benefited from their livelihood program and 7,377 from
other assistance.
At least 735
local government units received infrastructure projects and emergency response
equipment.
An Waray
also donated 1,412 medical equipments, on top of medical and dental missions
that reached out to 440,702 residents.
Although
nominees are happy with the result, they are now more challenged to translate
the high awareness level of An Waray into actual votes. (PNA)
