CITY, April 30 (PNA) – More than 16,000 overseas and local jobs are up for
grabs during Sunday’s Labor Day celebration in Eastern Visayas, the Department
of Labor and Employment (DOLE)? regional office here reported.
With the
theme: “Kinabukasan Sigurado Sa Disenteng Trabaho”, job seekers are encouraged
to take part in the jobs and livelihood fairs where there are 470 job vacancies
for local employment and 15,641 for overseas employment available for
applicants from the region.
DOLE
Regional Director Elias Cayanong said the region will have two jobs and
livelihood fair which will be held simultaneously at the Leyte Academic Center
in Palo, Leyte and Ormoc Superdome in Ormoc City.
“As for the
livelihood fair, the grantees and associations from different provinces will
partake to advertise and exhibit their respective products. With this regard,
applicants may also inquire on the foregoing if they are interested to seek
livelihood assistance,” Cayanong said.
In the said
event, there will be a one stop shop of government agencies such as Social Security
System, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Home Development Mutual Fund,
National Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Internal Revenue to assist for
the applicants’ concern on clearances and social welfare benefits.
Prior to the
Labor Day celebration, the DOLE has already conducted orientation on
Occupational Safety and Health Standards, Employees Compensation Commission’s
program to labor and management groups, and conduct of learning session to
educate labor and management on relevant labor laws and social legislations.
Likewise,
the DOLE has been conducting a career fair, which is aimed at assisting the
youth and students in their career decisions.
