TACLOBAN
CITY, March 2 (PNA) -- The Leyte provincial board is largely counting on
internet to review local ordinances while its members are busy with
election-related activities.
Vice Governor
Carlo P. Loreto said the paperless system has allowed provincial board members
to review the agenda ahead of their regular weekly sessions.
“Because of
the system, the board can post agenda online making it available for its
members. Because of this, the provincial board has no backlogs as all items
needed of their action were taken,” Loreto added.
On Tuesday,
the board has tackled 31 items, which include resolutions, annual budget of
several towns, new ordinances for review as well as granting authority to the
governor for several contract of usufruct between the province and national
government agencies and private companies.
Loreto said
that despite his busy schedule, he sees to it that the regular session every
Tuesday would not be cancelled.
The province
has 12 board members, representing the five legislative districts and two
ex-officio members representing the association of village chiefs and
Philippine Councilors League.
At least
nine of them are seeking fresh terms, one will retire from politics and one
will run for town mayor. (PNA)
