ORMOC CITY, Leyte, March 9 (PNA) -– The Bureau of Jail Management and
Penology (BJMP) personnel captured a fugitive inmate in a manhunt operation few
hours after he escaped from the city jail here, Tuesday afternoon.
Reynante G. Bolasteg, who faces drug-related charges enjoyed short-term
liberty, but did not succeed when the jail personnel got him and put him back
to the reformatory cell hours later.
City jail warden Chief Insp. Benjamin Catudio declined to provide
details as to how the “resident” escaped and where he was captured.
Acting chief of Police Station 1 Chief Insp. Castor Cabilogan said
around 4 p.m. Tuesday, city jail personnel came to the station and informed
that Bolasteg dripped from jail. Immediately, they conducted verification and
confirmed the report.
The fugitive was reported to have been arrested in the evening by the
jail personnel in a pursuit operation but no details were divulged by the
warden.
Cabilogan disclosed that following a directive, they visited the jail
Monday and accounted 358 inmates, 20 of them female.
The jail capacity is more than triple the number resulting to congested
residence for inmates.
