CITY, Feb. 9 -– The An Waray Partylist has kicked off its campaign in different
parts of the region in its bid to gain a fresh term in the House of
Representatives.
Rep. Ma
Victoria Noel, second nominee Raoul C. Creencia, third nominee Patrick Aguilos,
and former Rep. Bem Noel led in the ceremonial send-off of the party’s
volunteers to different parts of the region.
The
partylist held a mass and a simple lunch on Tuesday before mobilizing
volunteers for a 90-day campaign.
In her
message, Noel said that the volunteers should not be embarrassed in campaigning
for An Waray because of its good track record.
An Waray
played a key role in the passage of two major pro-poor legislations – the
Republic Act 10644 or the Go Negosyo Act and Republic Act 10693 or the Micro
Finance Non-Government Organization’s Act.
The
partylist has been focusing its activities on education, youth development and
livelihood program with more than 4,000 beneficiaries of its assistance to
local government units.
The group
also pushed for medical programs not only in Eastern Visayas where majority of
Waray-speaking people resides, but also in big hospitals such as the Lung
Center of the Philippines, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Philippine
General Hospital, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center
and the Philippine Orthopedic Center.

Partylist is a democratic multi-sectoral partylist organization that envisions
a just progressive and peaceful Filipino society.
In the 2004
elections, An Waray won one seat in Congress with their first nominee Florencio
