Leyte gov’t extends cash aid to villages

ORMOC CITY, Leyte, Jan. 6 (PNA) – The Leyte provincial government has been distributing cash aid of PHP15,000 to every village.
The distribution led by Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla, began on Dec. 30 in Palo town where he gave PHP495,000 to 30 villages, according to the provincial media office.
The governor’s mother, Remedios, mayor of Palo town also gave additional PHP6,000 to every village. All in all, each village in that town received PHP21,000 from the governor and mayor.
The governor continued distributing cash assistance during an assembly on Jan. 4 at Alangalang National High School.
In that forum, Alangalang’s 54 villages received PHP810,000; Babatngon’s 21 villages, PHP315,000; San Miguel’s 25 villages, PHP375,000; and Sta. Fe’s 20 villages, PHP300,000.
Guest speaker on that occasion was former Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho L. Petilla. Also present were Rep. Binky Noel of An Waray party list, Mayor Loreto T. Yu of Alangalang as well as 1st District Provincial Board Members Gina Merilo and Bob Abellanosa.
On Jan. 5, Petilla distributed the aid to Tanauan’s 54 villages, PHP810,000; Tolosa’s 20 villages, PHP300,000; Dulag’s 54 villages, PHP810,000; and Julita’s 26 villages, PHP390,000.

Aside from cash aid, each village also received a box of medicines. It was learned that villages in all 41 municipalities and one city in Leyte will be given the cash aid. (PNA)
