Solar power firm donates spillway to host village

ORMOC CITY, Leyte, Dec. 7 (PNA) - Philippine Solar Farm-Leyte, Inc. (PSFLI) turned over a spillway to the local government of Dolores village here during ceremonies inaugurating the facility on Saturday.
The seven-meter spillway connects the interior Zones 5 and 6, and leads to the next village of Hibunawon.
Located 1.6 kilometers from the main road, the spillway’s construction began on Sept. 8 and was completed after more than two months.
PSFLI built the Php5.4 million spillway as part of its corporate social responsibility to Dolores, where it operates a 30 megawatt solar power plant.
The firm completed its USD72 million solar farm in July this year after securing the service contract for the project in 2012.
Constructed by Thailand’s Soleq for Gregorio Araneta Inc., the facility has 98,000 solar panels; enough to supply clean electricity to 50,000 households. (PNA)
